Welcome to my website
My name is Sverrir Sigmundarson and I'm 29 years old. I'm currently working as associate lecturer and research assistant at Reykjavik University. I hold a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Reykjavik University. The most of my graduate studies and the final topic of my masters thesis was focused on a sub field of Artificial Intelligence called single-agent heuristic search and planning with real-time constraints.
You might ask how heuristic search could be in any way relevant to our real-world problems. You are not wrong to ask, since I only recently really discovered its applications to every-day problems. To name a few I've successfully applied them to: optimal path finding, sequence alignment of DNA/base-pair strings, packaging algorithm for fresh-fish fillets and robot navigation in unknown environments. This short list is in no way an exhaustive listing of possible application areas. I know of numerous projects I worked on prior to my graduate studies that would have been prime candidates for heuristic search algorithms, e.g. an adaptive insurance advisor and fraud detection in textual data. So AI is both fun and practical. :D
For more information about me and my work see the links in the menu bar at the top of each page (yup, the light green one). All my contact information (both information about my digital identity as the normal one) is available in the space below the main menu bar.
