Fall 2004 - Spring 2006 (M.Sc.)

I completed my M.Sc. degree in computer science at Reykjavik University in the spring of 2006. While there I specialized in a subfield of artificial intelligence (AI) related to heuristic search and plannning (specifically in real-time search methods and unsupervised learning).

As a part of my masters program I spent, as exchange student, one semester at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada in spring 2005. There I attended among other things AI courses in both Machine Learning and an advanced course in Reinforcement Learning.

I got a generous grant from The Icelandic Centre for Research for my proposed masters project in the spring of 2005. The project, "Backtracking and Value Back-Propagation in Real-Time Search" dissects two popular search extensions in real-time algorithms in addition to providing a comprehensive overview of real-time algorithms that seek optimal solutions. Finished my undergraduate studies with a degree in Computing Science in the spring of 2004. Graduated with a grade point average of 8.9 (out of 10). I was asked to give the graduation speech for my year at graduation (after that experience I've no problem with talking to a large crowd *smile*) here is a copy of my speech (Icelandic)

I made the CS departments deanslist (ice: forsetalista) on three occations during my undergrad, in fall of 2002, in spring 2003 and in spring 2004.
